Good Reviews for “Split”: M Night Shyamalan Now Eyeing Stranger Things

M Night Shyamalan just received his best reviews on Rotten Tomatoes since ‘The Sixth Sense” with “Split.” The Director just said he wants to direct an episode of “Stranger Things.”

M Night Shyamalan Wants to Direct Stranger Things

The director told Digital Spy that he would love to get behind the camera for one episode of the hit Netflix show saying, “My boys who do Stranger Things, they did Wayward Pines for me,” referring to Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer, “They were round my house and I was like, ‘Well, you can hire me back, guys!'”

What could go wrong? In radio we always had a saying for great bands and even record labels, that one could buy and listen with trust because it was earned. The Beatles, the Stones had that. We trusted them. ‘Seinfeld’ gave that to me and I almost believe it for ‘Stranger Things. After all they have only had one season.’ M. Night Shyamalan – not so much. His first few movies truly gave us the switch at the end with ‘The Sixth Sense” receiving an 85% approval on Rotten Tomatoes. That was his high point. After that ‘Unbreakable’ got a 68%, “Signs” 74%. “The Village, ‘Lady in the Water’ and the ‘Happening’ scored 43, 24 and 18% respectively. “After Earth only received 11%.

Shyamalan is currently trying to reboot the ’90’s series Tales From the Crypt. He says, “that show was a big deal to me…it was taboo, it was like porn! In my immigrant house, I had to go to my friend’s house to watch Tales From the Crypt, so it represented a huge thing for me.”

Also in a few days he’ll release “Split” with James McAvoy playing the many personalities of a deranged man. Anya Taylor-Joy from ‘The Witch’ is also in it. – by John Beaudin
