Bob Seger Releases Special Tribute Song For Glenn Frey

Can you believe it’s been a year since we lost the singer? As a tip of the hat to his old friend Seger has released a free tribute download song. He told Rolling Stone magazine, “It’s obviously not meant to be a hit, There’s no chorus per se or title section or anything. The idea was just to honor his memory and talk, very specifically, about my impression of him in 1966 when we first met.”

Remember Seger gave Frey one of his first big breaks with Glenn singing background vocals on “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man,” It was Seger’s first hit in 1969. Listen to the tune. You can really hear Frey in the chorus.

Seger says Frey ‘Had a Drive, An Imagination & A Talent That Was Just Titanic’ and said,”I hope ‘Glenn Song’ doesn’t make his wife Cindy cry,” says Seger. “But it probably will.”

Frey died on January 18, 2016 from complications of rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia.

A life-sized statue of the former Eagles’ member was put up at the Standin’ on the Corner Park in Winslow, Arizona on September 24, 2016. Tipping the hat also to the lyrics of the Eagles first hit “Take it Easy” from 1972.

Last December the Eagles were honorees at Kennedy Center Honors. Even though there were many rumour of the Eagles getting back together without Frey, Don Henley recently stated that the band was done. – by John Beaudin
